Throughout this term we have chosen to remain focused on the many positives we have in our lives and school community. We have indeed had a busy, vibrant and fun-filled term, where our children have embraced each day.
The children enjoyed seeing their online friends each morning for morning ring and story time. What a lovely way for everyone to stay connected and we are so excited that all our friends will be returning next term to the classroom.
Our children have shown resilience to the rules of social distancing and hygiene protocols and have invented such interesting games to play in the garden to ensure that they stay apart and keep each other safe. The staff and I marvel daily at how easily they have adapted to the new environment.
Bike day was for many the highlight of each week. Thankfully we were able to redirect a few collisions. I had no idea a little black bike could go that fast! Helmets, masks, shields and all we have some future Cape Epic contestants in our midst.
We introduced Fun Fridays which have been enjoyed by both the children and teachers. From camping out in the classroom to our mini sports day where the cheers of encouragement were heard throughout Constantia. Book day dress up brought dinosaurs, Gruffalos, princesses and more through our doors. And the array of spring bonnets to celebrate Spring certainly brightened up a rather cold and rainy day. The promise of warmer weather as we settle into spring brings with it the possibility of new beginnings.
At CPS we strive to create a homely and challenging learning environment through incorporating a diverse and interesting curriculum. Our aim is to encourage and guide each child to reach their full potential and enable them through inquiry-based learning to become innovative, emotionally confident and academically proficient.
We have a busy 4th term planned and all our current Covid19 health and safety protocols will remain in place for the remainder of the year. The 4th term is always filled with lots of anticipation and excitement as we round the year off. Amidst the carol singing, making of Christmas decorations and planning our virtual concert we ensure that every child is well prepared for the following year; emotionally, physically, socially and academically so that they transition smoothly into the next age group or phase.
I hope that many of you have managed to take some time off over the holidays to venture out into our beautiful country once again. If you are travelling please keep safe on the roads. We look forward to seeing all our CPS family next term.
